PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To be responsible for the processing of Development Management matters within an area based or function based team including responsibility for the handling of pre-application advice, planning applications, appeals and enforcement including negotiations with developers and other interested parties, securing financial and other community benefits through legal agreements.
Planning Officers with experience dealing with a range of applications from householder to minor applications and to assist in processing backlog applications

Planner will be expected to work and use their own initiative with little direct supervision and support their Team Leader as required.

In this role, you'll provide essential administrative and customer service support to ensure the smooth operation of the Development Management and Enforcement Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assist applicants and agents throughout the planning process, offering guidance and basic information on planning procedures.
Manage and prioritise a development management caseload of correspondence, applications, appeals and pre-application enquiries in accordance with national and local performance targets.
Undertake and verify the technical processing of development applications in accordance with legislative requirements, the organisation's policy and procedures.
We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Planning Obligations Research officer; the purpose of this role is to ensure that the information held on the Council's planning obligation database is up to date and accurate to improve the reporting function of the authority.
The role is expected to review historic planning agreements and finance reports on spend to reconcile the information contained within the planning obligations database (Mastergov).
