About the Role:

Are you an ambitious urban planning professional looking for a challenging role with excellent career progression? We are seeking a Planner / Principal Planner to join our dynamic Development Management team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, from small-scale developments to more complex applications, with the chance to advance your career as you gain experience and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of planning applications, including householder, minor works, and major development proposals.
  • Provide expert advice on planning legislation, policy, and practice to colleagues, external stakeholders, and decision-makers.
  • Represent the organisation at planning appeals, including informal hearings and public inquiries.
  • Support the Development Management Team by assisting with planning histories, policy analysis, and preparing cases for committees.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve high-quality planning outcomes.
  • Contribute to shaping the built environment through informed decision-making and strategic thinking.

Career Development:

This position operates under a career-grade scheme, allowing for clear progression from Planner to Principal Planner based on your qualifications, experience, and performance. You'll receive support towards obtaining professional accreditation (RTPI) and have access to further training opportunities.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant degree in town planning or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to analyse, interpret, and present complex information clearly.
  • Proven experience in managing planning applications and providing planning advice.
  • The capability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative.
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is desirable.
