Planning Officer

Planning Officers with experience dealing with a range of applications from householder to minor applications and to assist in processing backlog applications

  • Planner (BEXLEY 12)
  • Planner will be expected to work and use their own initiative with little direct supervision and support their Team Leader as required.
  • Processing a range of applications except complex applications that may require support and guidance from your Team Leader.
  • Providing information and advice to all those requesting this including other officers and Members.
  • Providing the Council's case at appeal through written representations and informal hearings.
  • Supporting Senior Planners at Committee meetings, including occasional presentation of cases as required.
  • Providing advice to Enforcement Team Officers.

In this grade, the Planner will work towards their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). This requirement is only applicable to those who had graduated after 2005.

The Planner must demonstrate a minimum of two years relevant town planning experience, one year of which must be gained postqualification.

Planners who graduated prior to 2006 are required to demonstrate the same level of experience as above, but through a Statement of Experience rather than APC. They are not required to complete a log book or to hold Licentiate membership.

In this grade, the Planner will work towards their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

The Planner must demonstrate a minimum of two years relevant town planning experience, one year of which must be gained postqualification. The Planner must obtain Licentiate membership of the RTPI for experience to be eligible.
