JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: Housing Options Adviser DIVISION/SECTION: Housing Services Responsible to: Senior Housing Options Adviser Hybrid - 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home Hours: 35 hours per week Salary: £21 - 23.5 per hour PAYE MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Housing Options Adviser Assess applicants' eligibility for accommodation and make complex decisions regarding statutory homelessness duties. Interview and assess homeless people. Prevent homelessness by promoting housing options. Provide guidance on Security of Tenure, Possession Proceedings, Housing Options, and Welfare Benefits. Determine statutory duty under the 1996 Housing Act, Part 7 as amended. Advise those threatened with homelessness to prevent it. Assess entitlements of single non-priority homeless people and provide statutory advice and assistance. Provide advice to private sector tenants. Issue detailed and legally compliant decision letters. Use a proactive casework approach to identify and implement effective solutions. Liaise with service users, operational services, providers, and other stakeholders. Maintain accurate data recording and administration for housing cases. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Safeguard the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
