POST TITLE: Housing Options Officer
DIVISION/SECTION: Housing Services
Responsible to: Senior Housing Options Adviser

Hybrid - 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £21 - 23.5 per hour PAYE

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Housing Options Officer

  • Assess applicants' eligibility for accommodation and make complex decisions regarding statutory homelessness duties.
  • Interview and assess homeless people.
  • Prevent homelessness by promoting housing options.
  • Provide guidance on Security of Tenure, Possession Proceedings, Housing Options, and Welfare Benefits.
  • Determine statutory duty under the 1996 Housing Act, Part 7 as amended.
  • Advise those threatened with homelessness to prevent it.
  • Assess entitlements of single non-priority homeless people and provide statutory advice and assistance.
  • Provide advice to private sector tenants.
  • Issue detailed and legally compliant decision letters.
  • Use a proactive casework approach to identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Liaise with service users, operational services, providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate data recording and administration for housing cases.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Safeguard the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
