Technical Officer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is a social housing provider based in London. Currently they are seeking an experienced Technical Officer to join their team on a temporary contract. The role requires a basic DBS and the ideal candidate will be RICS Qualified.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Specify, raise and oversee work required to repair and maintain the housing stock, including minor improvements
  • Work with the Neighbourhood Housing Manager relevant to the allocated Area(s), to monitor contractor performance, including attendance at local contractor meetings
  • Undertake pre, post and quality inspections
  • Provide technical support and advice to staffMonitoring the void process to ensure properties are let in accordance with agreed timescales and within budget and in line with letting standardsVerification of contactor payments with finance as and when requested
  • Oversee and manage a planned programme of cyclical and planned maintenance work
  • Consider and respond to requests for variation orders from contractors in a timely manner
  • Manage and supervise the process for specialist treatments including mould and pest control issues
  • On an exceptional basis respond to emergencies including out of hours, as required by a senior manager, organising assistance as required
  • Participate in estate inspections, as directed by the Neighbourhood Housing Manager
  • Management of works identified as part of the fire risk assessments including identifying scope of work required and assessment of work undertaken
  • Identify any fire safety issues and address these as part of routine estate inspection/visits
  • Processing of disability grant applications
  • Prepare work specifications for insurance claim work and progress all related administration
  • Attend regular meetings with Asset Management and provide advice and guidance on repair history and ongoing repair issues for regeneration schemes
  • To represent the organisation as witness in legal proceedings if required
  • Proactively resolve routine maintenance defects arising from major works schemes and day to day responsive repairs
  • To respond to complaints made either to the Housing Association Ombudsman or the organisations own complaints procedure and ensure the prompt and adequate response to enquiries from MP's, Board members and client advocates
  • Undertake project work specific to your areas of responsibility as and when required
