Right Now Group is looking for an Import Clerk to join a Freight Forwarder based in the London Heathrow area. The ideal candidate will be able to complete import formalities in a 360-capacity including customs clearance for Air freight, organising transport to final point of delivery. Liaising with hauliers and provide quotations for client shipments, who are usually large, worldwide retailers. Duties and responsibilities of an Import Clerk: Handling the process of import consignments from start to finish in a 360 capacity. Handling / Booking transport movements to final points of delivery. Liaising with airline sheds on arrival of goods. Completing customs clearances on CDS. Liaising with internal offices for UK wide deliveries. Building excellent external and internal relationships to ensure customer requirements are met. Handle quotations for overseas agents' arrival charges and spot quotations for imports. Raising of invoices and transportation documents. Cover overtime as and when required - negotiable. The successful Import Clerk will: Have Air Import experience for a minim of 2 years. Very strong knowledge of import procedures and documentation. Solid understanding of customs clearance processes and codes. Have excellent spoken & written communications skills in English. Be able to work as part of a team, under pressure & tight deadlines. New position is available for an import customs clerk with this small, friendly, established forwarder based at Heathrow (Ashford). Previous Import Ops and Customs experience will be considered and the salary will reflect this. Successful person will have excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to easily commute to Ashford, Surrey. Terms of Employment Mon-Fri 9-5.30 £25-32k Neg DOE/plus occasional overtime paid Pension after 3 months 20 days holiday plus bank holiday and option of banked hols or o/t Duties Creating and building job files. Tracking and monitoring import pre alerts. Must be proficient in preparing and submitting customs import entries and CDS knowledge. Have a basic all round knowledge of customs procedure codes Confident speaking too and dealing with airlines and ground handling agents. Arranging airline and bond collection with hauliers for ultimate onward delivery to end client either on an overnight or dedicated delivery dependent on client's needs. Good telephone manner Proficient with outlook as role can be email intensive at times especially with our overseas partners. Experience in quoting overseas agents for DDU/DDP shipments would be an advantage. Will be required to raise and send debit notes directly to clients for import shipments handled through our internal computer software. Will be working within a small team. Flexible attitude towards out of hour's clearances i.e. Evenings and/or weekends shared between the team. (Overtime paid)
