To be considered for the role, you'll require the following essentials: Degree in a Materials Science / Engineering or equivalent Driving licence and own transport essential Strong problem-solving abilities Working knowledge of laboratory safety Proficient in Auto CAD 3D design software Knowledgeable in solid-state synthesis and chemical modification Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Self-motivated to meet quality and delivery targets Positive attitude towards daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives Adheres to Health & Safety site requirements Within this position, Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working alongside the Chartered Engineer and Chairman to develop existing and new products, you'll also be: Product Design: Utilise knowledge of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to create innovative products. Research & Development Lab: Plan and conduct thorough development testing of new and existing products to meet British and international standards. New Product Integration: Design and implement new product lines and manufacturing specifications. Data analysis, processing, and reporting. Experimental Prototyping: Develop working prototypes using advanced manufacturing equipment and CNC machines. Operation of test rigs to assess product performance. Apply engineering science and technology principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to design and production. Material Handling and Characterisation. Prepare reports, manuscripts, proposals, and technical manuals for other scientists and stakeholders, including sponsors, customers, partners, and potential partners. Understand and predict physical principles, laws, and their applications to fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, as well as mechanical, electrical, atomic, and sub-atomic structures and processes. Stay updated on material developments in the sector. Determine ways to enhance or combine materials or develop new materials with specific properties for various products and applications. Prepare reports and drawings for patent applications. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2024 and beyond, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer - Research and Development - to complement their professional team and support them in the design and development of a portfolio of solutions including air blast coolers, water heat exchangers and recirculation chillers. It is envisaged that the successful Electrical Engineer - Research and Development - candidate will be realistically qualified to at least HND or above in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical, instrumentation & controls, mechatronics or similar) and be able to demonstrate at least 3 years or more experience of performing electrical design and development activities within an engineering manufacturing environment.
