About the job:

  • Reporting to the R&D Director, you'll focus on leading the development of products this could be developing existing products or creating new products for launch and improving related production processing.
  • You'll lead development activities with Research Institutions and Universities.
  • Identify new opportunities through technological awareness, customers and market trends.
  • Assist with cost management and identifying new or alternative raw materials.
  • Work with customers to provide solutions and identify commercial opportunities
  • For production, provide a technical resource, agree BOM routes and assist in the establishment of quality tests.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and customer samples.

About you:

  • A relevant Science degree with postgraduate experience or having a good technical background with a track record of delivery in technical environments.
  • Product development in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in technical textiles applications, medical fields or filtration applications would be an advantage.
  • Your blend of technical expertise and commercial awareness will enable you to identify and evaluate emerging trends and developments for R&D to include in projects that sustain the company's competitive edge.
  • A good working knowledge of laboratory practice and COSHH.
  • A team player, confident and capable of working to deadlines and project guidelines with a hands-on practical approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to technical detail and the ability to communicate and work closely with colleagues and customers.
  • Willing to travel where necessary.
  • First class report writing and communication skills.
  • A persuasive presenter and relationship builder with the credibility to engage and influence across a broad range of internal and external audiences.
