Central Employment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join our client's Technical Department on a Temp to permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing quality assurance activities across the business to meet BRC, food safety, quality, legality, and customer-specific standards. This role supports the Technical Manager and Quality Manager in achieving agreed quality objectives and fostering continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Product Safety and Quality Monitoring: Monitor and document the safety, legality, and quality of manufactured products. Make quarantine decisions and manage incidents following non-conformance, quarantine, and supplier complaint procedures. Complete non-conformance investigations and follow-up corrective actions. Internal Audits: Conduct scheduled internal audits, including metal detection, GMP, fabrication and hygiene inspections, glass, traceability, and paperwork reviews. Daily Tasks: Perform balance verification, fridge temperature checks, and red pen audits. Food Safety & Quality Management: Complete first offs and product launch checks as per the production plan. Log results into the positive release log and retain representative samples. Manage production and technical paperwork, archive areas, and retained samples. Perform packaging intake checks and end-of-shelf-life product assessments. Conduct moisture analysis and ensure online specifications are correct. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and participate in daily production performance meetings. Training and Mentorship: Mentor and assist production staff in quality and food safety aspects. Train production shift leaders on metal detection practices. Health & Safety and Hygiene: Promote safe working practices and report unsafe conditions through the "Near miss" process. Implement and monitor a "clean as you go" policy and ensure cleaning schedules are adhered to. Essential Skills & Qualifications: HACCP and food hygiene qualifications. Positive attitude and effective teamwork skills. Previous experience in a quality role within a food manufacturing environment. Knowledge of BRCGS standards. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and stock control systems. Self-motivated with a proactive approach. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage a busy workload efficiently. Relationships and Roles: Collaborate with the Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Shift Managers, Engineers, Planning, Purchasing, and external suppliers . Foster effective team relationships and maintain professional internal and external relationships that align with company core values. Demonstrate high integrity, problem-solving skills, and a focus on delivering to customers.
