My client is keen for a Cloud Database Architect & Administrator to join their supportive and forward-thinking team and embark on an exhilarating journey crafting a cutting-edge SaaS platform from inception! You'll be at the forefront of revolutionising data management systems by leveraging top-tier technologies within the AWS ecosystem. As the Cloud Database Architect & Administrator, you'll be pivotal in designing, executing, and overseeing AWS-hosted SQL and noSQL databases to ensure seamless service delivery, consistency, and security. With a keen eye for problem-solving and exceptional communication skills, you'll forge strong partnerships across the organisation. This role is available on a remote working basis. Responsibilities will include: Spearheading database and schema design, implementation, and testing, with a focus on optimising performance and recommending cloud-hosted database technologies. Deploying, maintaining, and supporting SQL and NoSQL database instances across various environments. Collaborating closely with Software Engineering Teams to enhance database performance through tasks like indexing and query optimisation. Upholding database availability, performance, and security through proactive incident management, monitoring, and auditing. Crafting robust data backup, recovery, and archiving strategies to safeguard critical information. Establishing and enforcing database standards, policies, and security protocols. Liaising with third-party database managed service providers for seamless upgrades, migrations, and maintenance in a 24x7 production environment. Experience and skills required: A degree in computing or a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Extensive expertise in MySQL database administration, along with proficiency in AWS database services such as RDS and Aurora. Proficiency in NoSQL cloud-based solutions like DynamoDB and MongoDB. Sound knowledge of replication and high-availability techniques. Hands-on experience in database management focusing on performance, integrity, and security. Proficiency in query optimisation and database lifecycle management. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like HashiCorp Terraform and strong scripting skills (e.g., Python). Experience with monitoring tools like AWS Performance Insights, AWS CloudWatch, or DataDog. Key technologies and tools for this role include: MySQL 8.x / 5.x Amazon RDS (Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL) NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB) Linux (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux) HashiCorp Terraform What my client will offer you: 25 days holiday, plus Bank Holidays.
