We are currently working for a number of schools who require Kitchen Assistants on a temporary basis. Stocking Ingredients: Kitchen Assistants ensure that the cooks have everything they need before meal preparation begins. They shop for food items, bring ingredients into the kitchen, and organize the stockroom. Food Preparation: They peel, chop, and clean vegetables and fruits. Additionally, they cut steak, gut fish, and pluck feathers from poultry as directed by the head chef or chefs de partie. Maintaining Cooking Surfaces: Kitchen Assistants clean cooking utensils, surfaces, and equipment (such as saucepans, pans, chopping boards, and meat slicers). They also observe correct cooking times and temperatures. Hygiene and Safety: They follow health and safety protocols, ensuring that food handling practices meet hygiene standards. Personal hygiene and appearance are essential. Cleaning and Tidying: Kitchen Assistants keep workstations and surfaces clean and tidy. They wash pots, pans, and other equipment to the highest standards. We would require a DBS to be completed prior to starting a booking.
We are currently with a number of schools who require kitchen porters to assist them on a temporary basis. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Kitchen Porters are responsible for cleaning and sterilizing various areas within the kitchen, including countertops, walls, stoves, ovens, grills, and sinks. Ensuring a hygienic environment is crucial. Dishwashing: They collect and wash cutlery, cookware, pots, pans, and other utensils. Keeping the kitchenware clean and ready for use is essential. Food Preparation Support: While not directly involved in complex food preparation, Kitchen Porters assist with basic tasks. This includes cutting ingredients, peeling, and washing food items. They also support Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff as needed. Organizing Deliveries: Kitchen Porters receive deliveries and organize them in the kitchen. This involves handling supplies, equipment, and food items. Overall Kitchen Cleanliness: After the kitchen closes, Kitchen Porters ensure that the entire kitchen is clean and ready for the next day. This includes work surfaces, walls, and floors. We would require a DBS to be completed prior to starting a booking.
