Kitchen Assistant

Posted by Reed.

We are currently working for a number of schools who require Kitchen Assistants on a temporary basis.

  1. Stocking Ingredients: Kitchen Assistants ensure that the cooks have everything they need before meal preparation begins. They shop for food items, bring ingredients into the kitchen, and organize the stockroom.
  2. Food Preparation: They peel, chop, and clean vegetables and fruits. Additionally, they cut steak, gut fish, and pluck feathers from poultry as directed by the head chef or chefs de partie.
  3. Maintaining Cooking Surfaces: Kitchen Assistants clean cooking utensils, surfaces, and equipment (such as saucepans, pans, chopping boards, and meat slicers). They also observe correct cooking times and temperatures.
  4. Hygiene and Safety: They follow health and safety protocols, ensuring that food handling practices meet hygiene standards. Personal hygiene and appearance are essential.
  5. Cleaning and Tidying: Kitchen Assistants keep workstations and surfaces clean and tidy. They wash pots, pans, and other equipment to the highest standards.

We would require a DBS to be completed prior to starting a booking.
