As an Electrical Networks Design Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for technical development of capital and connections projects for our distribution network, from feasibility through to approved for construction stage, using a suite of engineering standards. Project designs relate to underground cable, overhead line and substation situations up to 33kV. The project portfolio includes network refurbishment, reinforcement or automation and plant replacement. Your design duties will include: Production of line route drawings, stage by stage plans, plant and equipment specifications, contractor tendering and evaluation. Liaise with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure that necessary project land rights can be consented, construction carried out robustly, cost effectively and be technically compliant. You will also be required to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate the health, safety and environmental aspects of projects during pre-construction phase. What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: At least an HNC level qualification within a relevant subject or equivalent experience. Previous experience in the design and construction of electrical distribution networks up to 33kV. Previous experience in applying the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 to technically complex projects. Strong negotiation and influencing skills, being able to convey your position in a clear and concise manner. Proficiency with using Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of electrical network modelling and the NRSWA code of practice would be advantageous. Ability to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, requiring first class communication and organisational skills.
