About Us:
Akton Recruitment are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a local authority in Bracknell on a permanent basis. The network team look after all aspects of Network Architecture, Strategy, Design, Implementation, and support of the enterprise network environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support the enterprise network environment.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure network performance and reliability.
- Respond promptly to network faults and outages, with occasional short-notice site visits required.
- Perform out-of-hours work for network changes and maintenance to minimise service disruption.
- Provide clear and concise communication of technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working Hours:
Flexible hours between 08:00-17:30, Monday to Friday, negotiated with the team on a daily basis. Hybrid working is available, with office visits planned around project activities and at least one day per week on-site.
Essential Requirements:

Multiple years of experience in an Enterprise IT environment.

Extensive knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls; experience with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.

Strong understanding of networking protocols, hardware, software, and network security.

Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.

Broad knowledge of Next Generation firewall technology.

Experience with LANs, WANs, VPNs, Firewalls, and Wireless networks.

Network certifications to Cisco CCNP level or equivalent from other vendors.

Demonstrable hands-on experience with:

Cisco switches (VSS, VPC, EtherChannel) and firewalls, Cisco, FortiGate or Palo Alto Firewalls

Cisco Catalyst Wi-Fi Access points, Cisco ISE, Cisco SD-Access

Wi-Fi site surveying
