Your new role Southend-on-Sea City Council are looking to appoint a Youth Justice experienced Team Manager in a 9-month fixed term capacity.Within this post, the successful candidate will ensure that the council provides a first-class professional service within the Youth Justice Service (YJS), by being responsible for the efficient and cost-effective provision of a needs-led service to children, young people and their families in order to prevent offending and re-offending.They will be managing a team of senior seconded workers, YJS workers, support workers, volunteers and administrative staff. You will be providing regular and consistent monitoring, analysis and written reports on the YOS performance and quality of work. Ensuring adherence to YJB policies and practices, including performance indicators and National Standards, as well as ensuring timeliness of assessment and reviews.Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on site a minimum of 2 days a week. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in the post, it is also essential that you have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior management role and have a relevant professional qualification to degree level (or equivalent) in Youth Justice, Careers, Education & Guidance, Youth & Community or Social Work. As well as this, you must have evidence of continuing professional development, including management skills training.Extensive knowledge of methods of youth justice intervention, child protection and prevention, knowledge of relevant legislation, principles of performance management, as well as equal opportunities issues in relation to staff and client management.
