Train to be a Teaching Assistant on our Special Needs programme! This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who want to move into a career in teaching. We've partnered up with Creative Education to provide in-depth support and training on all areas of supporting Special Needs in Schools. You will then have the opportunity to be paired with one our partnered Schools, whether your interest be; Complex Needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, or Profound Learning Difficulties. There's something for everyone! Both Primary and Secondary positions available! We are carefully selecting the right people for this role. You will be expected to complete online training to help develop your understanding of Education and child development, paired with a Full Time (Paid) position within one of our schools. You will have lots of schools to choose from based on your area of preference, skills and ability with children. Tailor your programme around your interests - Complex Needs, SEMH, Mainstream, Speech and Language, Autism etc. Develop key skills in these areas! Gain a Special Educational Needs, Teaching Assistant Qualification! Have access to over 200 Modules (Phonics, SEND, Classroom practice etc, Supporting additional needs, Understanding Autism, Understanding attachment, Complex Needs) Experience what life in different schools is like! Our enhanced Safeguarding pathway will help you to understand your role in child protection,how you can spot signs of abuse, how to ensure you are accurately reporting and assess how you can support students in protecting themselves whilst online. How to be a great Teaching Assistant - You've joined our programme not just because you want to be a teaching assistant, but because you want to be a GREAT teaching assistant! This course will teach you about personal and professional conduct in schools, the basics of teaching and learning, how to effectively work with other teachers and how you can go above and beyond to support your students. Special Needs Awareness Pathway - Over a million students in the UK across all age ranges have additional or special educational needs. Whether you work in an SEND setting or in a mainstream school, it's essential that you're able to effectively work with SEND students. This course will cover aspects of Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Attachment Disorder, Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD and will give you a basic understanding of how you may need to change your approach to reach all of the pupils in your class. Differentiate your approach to safeguarding with SEND pupils - Safeguarding is essential to our jobs as Educational professionals, when working with vulnerable students it is crucial to put in place additional parameters to support students. Understanding the link between Abuse and Mental Health - Some students you work with may have Mental Health issues that affect their access to learning, this short course looks at considering how abuse may have influenced those Mental Health issues. Enable Children to Feel Safe - Taking an informed approach to children with special needs and making them feel safe, creates a space where children can thrive. Managing Pupils Behaviour to Improve Learning - In secondary schools behaviour management can be a concern, this course helps you look at how to help students focus and reduce behavioural issues. Effectively Working with Other Adults in School - When working in SEND schools, you're part of a massive team, working with other teaching assistants, teachers, SLT and office staff to protect the welfare of children. To coordinate all our training. Supporting and co-delivering with autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Duties: Deliver Oliver McGowan Mandatary Training on learning disability and autism; Tier 1 (online) and Tier 2 (face to face) to health and social care staff in various locations across Dorset. This will include working alongside and enabling our experts by experience, who have learning disabilities and/or autism. Delivering Safe Places training; Our Safe Places Scheme has been running for a number of years. The Safe Places are local shops and businesses that welcome people with learning disabilities when they are in trouble and require help e.g. to make a call, ask for directions when lost etc. In partnership with BCP Council the scheme is widening to all members of the public in need, with a 1 year pilot starting in Bournemouth. Your role will be to liaise with and train various venues when they are interested in being a Safe Place, making sure they are suitable. This will be alongside our trainers with learning disabilities. Delivering other training; Delivering learning disability and/or autism awareness training on request to other charities and businesses in the area. Ensuring they understand the needs of our members. Project Coordination; Work closely with management to help develop our training packages. Sometimes developing training on request to suit the needs of the purchaser. Collating feedback and information to support the making of reports. Using this data to analyse and evaluate the impact of our training. Implement changes where necessary to meet our outcomes. To liaise with a range of people including; our partners on these projects, services, individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism, parents/carers and community groups. We may require you to attend working groups and other meetings to support these projects. These will mostly be General; Contribute to reports for Trustees, Commissioners, Annual General Meetings and funders when needed. Work some evenings and weekends. Drive own car and willingness to travel. To take part in regular supervision, training, team meetings and team building. To carry out any other tasks appropriate to the grade of the post. Qualifications, skills and experience: Essential Good standard of education - equivalent of 5 GCSE's including English and Maths. Clear experience in delivering successful face-to-face training in health and social care or similar environment. Good time keeping and management Ability to give objective, accurate, consistent and timely advice in relation to health and social care learning and development, within the scope of this role. Be able to communicate effectively with a range of people, including autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Ability to co-facilitate with experts by experience (with learning disabilities and/or autism). Ability to work effectively as part of a team Flexible and willing to work from home, office and out in the community. Ability to work in a self-directed manner as part of a distance-managed team, utilising good organisational skills to prioritise and manage workload. Able to competently use Microsoft packages: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams and Zoom Clean licence and own car. Willing to travel and drive where needed. Ability to recognise and challenge discrimination and oppressive attitudes. Desired Experience in working with people with a learning disability and autistic people in a professional role, or can demonstrate an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience. Has an up to date working knowledge of the fields of autism and learning disability and is familiar with current issues. Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights Act 1998, the Autism Act 2009, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent laws and DNACPR case law. Ability to produce accessible or "Easy Read" information in a range of formats. Salary scale: £15.90 per hour Hours: 23 hours per week, 1 year contract. Working days: Flexible, to be arranged with Manager. Some evenings and weekends may be required on occasion. Place of work: Agile working!
