The Role This is a newly created 12-month FTC role in the Law Society library services team. You will be supporting our small user-focused team in the efficient daily running of the library service and document delivery service, and assisting members in the use of our collections and databases. You will get hands-on experience in legal research tailored to the requirements of the solicitors' profession and help us deliver an excellent service to our members. Additionally you will have the opportunity to contribute to preparations for our bicentenary celebration under the supervision of an archivist. The traineeship is designed to offer one year of practical experience of library work to those fully committed to embarking on a postgraduate course leading to a qualification as a library or information professional. Our team uses online subscription databases and an extensive print collection to assist solicitors and their support staff with their enquiries. We run a document delivery service open to all which provides precedents, cases, journal articles, legislation, and commentary. Please refer to the job description for additional information. What we're looking for The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to start a career in libraries or the information sector. They will have some customer service experience and good interpersonal skills for confidently working with library users and colleagues.
