Duties of the Cover Supervisor: Supervision of tutor group and classes in the case of teacher absence. Help students individually or in groups, both in and out of the classroom, following the teacher's plan. Keep students on task and maintain a positive learning environment. Explain the teacher's instructions to students and answer their questions. Prepare simple lesson materials if no specific work is provided. Fill out a brief feedback form and return all completed work to the teacher. Report any disciplinary or other issues according to school procedures. Help with school duties like supervising exams, one lunchtime duty a week, and two detention duties per term. Provide extra supervision or admin help when needed. Join regular scheduled meetings. The Cover Supervisor Must Have /Be: Full eligibility to work in the UK. GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent). Knowledge of safeguarding. Experience working in a secondary school. Experience supporting learning in a classroom setting. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proven ability to enthuse and engage with young people. Strong behaviour management skills. Excellent team player. Ability to communicate ideas effectively. Shares ideas and resources with colleagues. Good organiser and administrator. Excellent timekeeping and attendance. Works effectively with the team to develop actions. Sensitive where appropriate but sets high expectations of behaviour and work. Flexible and resilient.
