Your new company Working within the Group Accounting and Reporting team the Group Technical Accountant is a predominately financial accounting role ensuring compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements. This involves the provision of transaction-focused solutions, technical accounting determinations, hands -on implementation and business partnering skills. Your new role The Technical Accountant will ensure new accounting standards are maintained for the Group and updated in the Global Financial Framework. The role will also provide pragmatic and robust accounting advice to senior management, the divisions/subsidiaries and other departments. Preparation and review of reporting and technical accounting papers; Advice, support and consult stakeholders in relation to technical accounting issues, and provide technical expertise on complex accounting issues; Liaison with auditors on technical accounting issues; Provide internal and ad-hoc training and advice on technical accounting, new developments and standards and technical accounting leadership and support for ongoing and new projects; Provide analytics, guidance and support on specific technical accounting areas such as Fixed Assets, End of Service Benefits, VAT and other tax issues including responding to service desk tickets and the month end processes; Provide technical input into the Global Financial Framework; Support the payroll process through the monthly review of the payroll reports prior to submission to the payroll bureau; Responsibility for the preparation of accounting journals, reconciliations and reports for our investments portfolio; Provide program management leadership and support for ongoing and new projects around governance and compliance.; What you'll need to succeed ACA / ACCA accounting qualification, or equivalent Proven technical knowledge of accounting standards Strong technical accounting and writing skills Solid communication skills and executive presence Outstanding analytical skills (financial modelling) Ability to efficiently give priority to activities and carry out regular functions with little or no supervision Project management and leadership skills Experience of working in an environment with remote stakeholders What you'll get in return Flexible working options available. The Technical Accountant will ensure compliance with FRS, Charity SORP and other statutory/ regulatory requirements and provide robust accounting advice to internal stakeholders.
