Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff to ensure food quality and presentation meet our high standards. Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistent quality. Develop new menu items and refine existing dishes in collaboration with the Head Chef. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment. Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage kitchen costs efficiently. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-end restaurant. Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Excellent leadership and management skills. Creativity and passion for culinary arts. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities. Calling all levels of Chefs!!!! We have temporary Sous and Prep Chef work based in the Canterbury area starting in mid June and finishing in early August available. There are various positions which can include both Part-Time and Full-Time hours for Chefs with basic food preparation experience and more. You will be assisting with the preparation of basic meals from breakfast to lunch and evening meals and you will be working as part of a large team of experienced catering professionals You will be required to work 5 out of 7 days, and the shifts will vary between morning starts and evening finishes. There will be work for up to 40 hours per week, however if you have less availability there could still be shifts to suit you. You must be flexible and be able to work in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring that service is delivered effectively each day. The ability to work well in a team is essential as are good communication skills. Hourly rates are negotiable depending on your experience.
