Senior Buyer / near Lancing / Up to £55,000 Are you an experienced Senior Buyer? Reporting into the Procurement Manager, this role will support the management of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. Travel may be required in this role at times, due to UK and worldwide events. Location / Hours: You'll be based close to Lancing; the role includes both on-site and hybrid working hours. You'll need to be able to drive to the job site or be on close public transport links. Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week. Senior Buyer Profile: 7 years' experience of NPI and Procurement Process or a similar role where skills can be transferred into the objectives described above, preferably gained within the automotive or marine sector. Experience working in an Automotive, Marine, Engineering, or manufacturingenvironment Strong data management skills and IT literacy. Experience with SAP & Info LN Purchasing an advantage. Strong negotiation skills with an ability to close deals in short time frames. Strong customer focus with a flexible approach to succeed in a fast-moving environment. Knowledge of BoM's, PO Processes, familiarity with technical drawings. A working knowledge of contract law and experience in contract negotiation, implementation, and management. Ability to communicate well within a cross-functional team and at all levels. Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) is desirable. Responsibilities & Duties: Meet with clients to define requirements and coordinate supply chain activities. Maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and the company community. Procure project goods, including bespoke parts and technical services. Conduct competitive bidding, negotiate prices, and report cost-reduction achievements. Liaise with suppliers and engineering on design feasibility, expedite orders, and manage returns. Control spending against budget and forecast project completion. Identify, evaluate, and assess financial risk and sustainability of potential suppliers. Negotiate contracts and evaluate risks, working with SQA for UK and international suppliers. Manage the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process for projects. Support procurement best practices across business divisions. Lead cost estimation during product concept phases. Support business development in bid preparation and client pitches. Manage Purchase Requisition/approval process for compliance. Place and manage orders with UK and international suppliers, ensuring order accuracy and timely delivery. Senior Buyer Our client is looking for a Senior Buyer from the Electronics manufacturing Industry. The company provides electronic manufacturing services for complete product lifecycles, specialising in PCB and PCBA for industries such as greentech, medtech and industrial sectors. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, The Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company's operational needs are met; considering price, quality, and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. Responsibilities: Purchase goods, materials, components & services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets (metals and plastics commodities) Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials; communicating any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on customer fulfilment Enable effective supplier selection, assessment, performance, and improvement Support in conducting UK and overseas supplier performance reviews Focus on materials cost reduction through effective cost modelling - PPV Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings Quote and price up new parts (fabrication metals and plastics) for allocated NPI projects; supporting NPI as required to influence sourcing and tooling decisions Implement the company's supply chain strategy, working to establish cohesive ways of working between the UK and overseas team Develop ideas and initiatives to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement. Requirements: Sound experience of buying and negotiating best value commodities within a manufacturing environment Ability to read and interpret design drawings Strong sourcing knowledge of plastics, metals, electronics and/or fasteners Ability to develop sound business relationships with suppliers & customers Excellent communication skills (written/oral); providing clarity on expectations Skilled to drive for strong commercial results, and delivery of cost-effective solutions Capable of conflict management and problem resolution Very organised, able to co-ordinate and oversee completion of multiple tasks Able to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines; managing varied customer needs Confident to work cross-functionally on business and NPI projects; providing advice and technical knowledge where required Strong work ethic demonstrating respect and integrity at all times with commitment to company and people values Customer focus, Quality, Integrity & Honesty, Ownership, Valuing People, teamwork and Effective Communication Business or technical qualification to degree level preferred.
