We are working with a local authority in Greater Manchester to find a Senior Finance Manager on an interim basis. Daily Rate: Up to £600 per day via Umbrella Location: Ideally 1 day per week in Tameside office, but can be remote for right person Length of role: Initially until 30th November 2024 Hours: Full time Monday to Friday. We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager with robust Local Government experience, particularly within Place Based Services. You will manage the grant funding for levelling up across 3 town centres in Tameside. This will revolve around town centre regeneration, and other general capital improvements. Day to Day of the Role: - Lead the roll-out of Budget Holder training across the Place Directorate to foster a positive culture change and improve budget holder awareness and self-service. - Act as the finance lead for various Council Operational Services, including Engineers and Highways, Waste and Fleet Services, Greenspace, and Bereavement Services. - Lead the team in producing regular Revenue and Capital monitoring reports, striving to enhance the quality of reporting by aligning it with performance and activity data. - Provide financial management, technical, and business planning advice, training, and support within the Place Directorate. - Play a key role in the formulation of the Council's Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and the 2025/26 Budget, including a thorough review of Fees and Charges. - Serve as the Finance Lead for Major Capital Projects, including significant Town Centre Redevelopments. - Fulfil all external reporting requirements for large grant-funded schemes, including quarterly reporting to government bodies such as DLUHC and DWP. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Strong experience in Local Government, ideally within Place Based Services. - Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively. - Experience in financial management and technical advisory within a local government context. - Proficiency in producing and improving quality financial reports. - Knowledgeable in budgeting, business planning, and the formulation of financial strategies.
