Position Overview: They are seeking a dynamic and motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Essex. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting othe team in various aspects of cost management and procurement throughout the project life cycle. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation. Procurement: Support in the procurement process by obtaining competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating bids, and making recommendations to ensure value for money. Contract Administration: Aid in the preparation and administration of contracts, including subcontract agreements and variations, while ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions. Cost Control: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, identifying any deviations and assisting in implementing corrective measures to maintain financial targets. Measurement and Valuation: Assist in the measurement of quantities for materials and labour, as well as the valuation of work done for interim and final payments. Risk Management: Participate in risk assessment activities, highlighting potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies to minimise project disruptions and cost overruns. Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quantity surveying activities, including measurement records, payment certificates, and correspondence with stakeholders. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project life cycle. Professional Development: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to enhance knowledge and skills in quantity surveying. Requirements: Relevant qualifications. Previous internship or work experience in quantity surveying or construction industry preferred. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam). Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
