Position Overview: They are seeking a dynamic and motivated Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Essex. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting othe team in various aspects of cost management and procurement throughout the project life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation.
- Procurement: Support in the procurement process by obtaining competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating bids, and making recommendations to ensure value for money.
- Contract Administration: Aid in the preparation and administration of contracts, including subcontract agreements and variations, while ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Cost Control: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, identifying any deviations and assisting in implementing corrective measures to maintain financial targets.
- Measurement and Valuation: Assist in the measurement of quantities for materials and labour, as well as the valuation of work done for interim and final payments.
- Risk Management: Participate in risk assessment activities, highlighting potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies to minimise project disruptions and cost overruns.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quantity surveying activities, including measurement records, payment certificates, and correspondence with stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project life cycle.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to enhance knowledge and skills in quantity surveying.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications.
- Previous internship or work experience in quantity surveying or construction industry preferred.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam).
- Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost control techniques.
