To provide tailored advice on housing options, training & employment, wellbeing & welfare benefits/money management to customers threatened with homelessness or who are living in private rent accommodation or other settled non social housing
To respond effectively to, prevent homelessness through advice, negotiation, mediation or conciliation, or by securing immediate access to alternative accommodation and generally promoting a housing options approach to service delivery to a full range of customers.
We are looking for someone who is a Homeless Prevention Officer with the following experience:
To provide tailored advice to customers approaching the Housing Options and Advice Service on a range of options and opportunities including housing, training & employment, wellbeing, welfare benefits and debt.
To work jointly with the Housing Assessment and Allocation Services to maximise homelessness prevention and the take up of a range of effective solutions to meet housing need.
To provide specialist advice and casework service to a range of residents including, homeless households, households who are threatened with homeless, households in insecure accommodation young people and families within families.
To provide an efficient, person centred, information, advice, guidance, intervention, assessment, assistance and practical support service to residents, enabling them to make informed choices in relation to their housing needs and signpost as necessary.
To undertake initial triage assessments to identify support and housing need for clients who may be vulnerable with complex needs.
The role
To act as the first point of contact for clients and others presenting to the service.
An experienced Housing Options/ Prevention/Homelessness Assessment Officer who can hit the ground running working with minimal supervision on a working with offenders and prison releases, candidate will be expected to be part of the Housing Options duty Service, completing assessment, and carrying out prevention and relief work.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate they have practical experience of delivering in a pressurised Housing Options Services and is manage the multiple demands and pressures of the service.
And managing a varied caseload Knowledge of Part VII Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act and other relevant legislation and statute is required along with experience of carrying out homelessness enquires, casework and drafting s184 decision letters.
You will be required to deliver an efficient and professional allocations service, ensuring the council's Housing Register, allocation of accommodation within the council's own stock and nominations to partner registered provider vacancies are administered in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme (policy), service procedures, national code of guidance and housing legislation (Part 6 of the Housing Act).
We have an exciting opportunity for an Income Advisor on a part time basis of 24 hours per week.
As an Income Advisor you will effectively manage a case load of debt, providing a comprehensive, customer focused service to our customers whilst maximising income to Freebridge.
This position is maternity cover and is therefore on a 10 month FTC.
