An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Analyst to join the Renewables Financial Control team based in Perth/Glasgow. As a Finance Analyst within the Renewables Finance Solar & Battery team you will assist with a broad range of Financial Control activities including, but not limited to; Month end journal postings, Bank and balance sheet reconciliations, Involvement in the half year and year end audit, including preparation of statutory accounts and liaising with the auditors. Preparation of VAT returns and other regulated reports What do I need? Reporting to the Solar & Battery Finance Manager you will be part of a growing business and be exposed to a large amount of ad-hoc work, supporting a broad range of finance requirements as the business continues to grow. We're looking for someone who is passionate about working in the energy industry and will bring fresh thinking and ideas to the role and the wider Finance team. You must have relevant accounting experience, gained in a similar role and ideally will have started your professional exams. We are currently in the third year of this 5-year price control for Electricity Transmission (RIIO-T2). We have a long-term plan to take the business forward as we look towards RIIO-T3 and deliver our RIIO-T2 commitments to support the overall Group. We are on course to invest over £7bn in our RIIO-T2 period. You will support the Transmission Capital Investment programme working closely as part of a small team with Transmission Capital Investment Finance Managers and Accountants and other key internal stakeholders. This requires significant financial discipline to underpin decision making and drive value and efficiency. The Finance Analyst is responsible for: The execution of comprehensive general accounting and period closing activities for Transmission Capital Investment. Supporting the Capital Investment Accountant by producing timely and accurate reconciliations, reporting and statutory & regulatory return information. Securing, consolidating, analysing and providing accurate fact-based information for Transmission Capital Investment projects. You will support finance forecasting and provide a comprehensive overview of project finances as required to support robust financial control. Providing financial data and insights, updating dashboards and providing recommendations to the Transmission Capital Investment Finance Team and Project Teams. To be considered for this role, we would love you to have: An awareness of accounting and finance procedures would be advantageous. The ability to work unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines. A good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures. An understanding of key business metrics and key financial metrics and how they are calculated and used to drive performance. Qualified by experience or commenced study / Part Qualified with a professional accounting body (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or CPA) is desired but not essential.
