Role: Continuous Improvement Engineer Location: Bromborough Department: Engineering Department Line Manager: Engineering Team Leader Salary: 45,000 Hours: 4 on 4 off Days Your Role: Your mission is to blend hands-on Maintenance skills, deep equipment knowledge, and strong communication to improve the overall reliability and efficiency of our client's assets. You will turn challenges into growth opportunities and drive a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Conduct planned and reactive Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance throughout the site. Lead and implement improvement projects, focusing on enhancing equipment reliability and performance. Participate in root cause analysis and Engineering-led improvements to optimise site operations. Utilise advanced techniques and condition-based monitoring for asset optimisation. Act as a deputy to the Engineering Team Leader and mentor the Engineering Team and Apprentices. Ensure all site assets meet high standards and are maintained for maximum availability. Provide Mechanical and Electrical support for all assets and projects within your competencies. Promote and uphold a culture of Safety, Quality, and Food Safety, including participating in Audits and customer visits. What You'll Need: Proven technical Engineering experience. Relevant qualifications in Mechanical/Electrical fields, such as a BTEC Engineering certificate or equivalent. Expertise in diagnosing and fault-finding across a variety of equipment and situations. Experience in risk assessment, managing safe working practices, and handling high-hazard equipment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage priorities in dynamic environments. Knowledge of Lean and Asset Care Excellence techniques, root cause analysis, and condition-based monitoring. Ability to manage projects from scope to implementation effectively. Desirable: Experience with Total Productive Maintenance or Operator-Led Asset Care. Knowledge of statutory compliance, especially in high-risk utilities. Familiarity with CMMS and the ability to program PLCs. Food or FMCG Industry exposure. Qualifications: Time-Served Modern Apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, HNC, or equivalent technical certificate. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Desirable: Lean Manufacturing, IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications, FLT, and MEWP certified. Behaviors: A steadfast focus on health & safety. Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer will handle the mechanical design of packaged equipment, including structural steel, pressure vessels, and piping. Preferably specialised in Structural Design Engineering, with expertise in pressure vessel calculations and piping stress analysis, you will design or collaborate with contractors to define and review design packages. You will also provide design inputs, manage design issues, and interface with clients, contractors, vendors, and third parties. Responsibilities: Perform or coordinate mechanical design (structure, vessels, piping, equipment) for process packages, ensuring timely submission of the deliverable. Prepare and review design inputs, mechanical engineering deliverable, drawings, and reports. Ensure designs meet codes, standards, project specifications, and engineering practices. Resolve design issues with clients, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. Address customer comments and technical clarifications. Adhere to company procedures and standards. Qualifications: Strong adherence to safety and demonstrated safe work habits. Experience in mechanical design for complex systems, including piping, equipment, and structures. Experience preparing and reviewing calculation notes and reports. Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Fluent in English with strong report writing skills. Preferred Qualifications: Mechanical Engineering degree with relevant experience. Experience in oil & gas and/or chemicals/petrochemicals industries. Proficiency in StaadPro or equivalent structural design software. Knowledge of Compress, PV Elite, Caesar, or equivalent software.
