Engineer An award winning Five-star house builder are looking to recruit an Engineer to work across housing developments in the Lancashire Region. The Company The company build developments across the Lancashire region, properties range from 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom homes, a mix of semi-detached, detached and bungalows that are finished with stone, brick and render. The Role Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for providing Site engineering expertise and delivering a value engineering strategy and design information to enable site start dates in line with the business plan. Duties to include: Collaborate with technical colleagues to establish requirements and deadlines Attend and contribute to project team meetings from project inception to site closedown Select and appoint external consultants to deliver project information as required (Engineering design, Site investigations & surveys) Manage and collaborate with external consultants to deliver: site viability assessments; Constraints and opportunities assessments; Engineering appraisals; planning submission packages; Engineering Tender & Construction Packs (including R&S, External levels, private drainage, foundations, structures, street lighting and all other engineering related elements); Multi Utility Services Procurement & Coordination; Discharge of planning condition packages; Technical approvals to enable site starts Engage with external authorities (Highways, Sewerage Undertaker, Environment Agency, NHBC etc.) Engage with Road & Sewer / Groundworks contractor throughout design process seeking input to achieve best value Carry out thorough drawing checking process to ensure high quality engineering information is produced and delivered to the business for tender / construction purposes Provide proactive and responsive Technical query responses Secure S38 & S104 legal agreements and input into adoptions process. Support Production team in the delivery of high quality engineering components throughout the Production and Site closure Stages. Skills and experience required The successful Engineer must have a proven track record of working on housing developments and extensive experience of engineering issues gained within housebuilding industry Additional skills required: HNC or degree in Construction / Civil Engineering Experience of multi-site working Excellent attention to detail and communication skills Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative Fluent in AutoCAD and MS Office Commercially aware linking design to cost and value Good understanding of regulations and legislation impacting engineering design. NEC Contract Management: Oversee and manage contracts under the NEC 3 and NEC 4 suite of contracts, ensuring compliance and effective execution. Contract Review and Negotiation: Analyse, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in contracts and propose mitigation strategies. Financial and Quantity Surveying: Oversee the financial aspects and perform quantity surveying duties for contracts, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth contract execution. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation and records and provide regular reports on contract status performance (cost/value reconciliation), and compliance. Timely application for payments. Subcontract administration. Responsible for commercial procedures. Desired Qualifications / Prerequisites: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Professional qualification or certification in contract management, quantity surveying, or a related field is advantageous Proven experience in commercial management, with a focus on NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts. Strong background in contract review, negotiation, management, and quantity surveying. Experience in the construction, engineering, or related industry is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills. Effective communication and negotiation abilities. Proficiency in relevant software and tools for contract management and quantity surveying, e.g. CEMAR. Ability to apply skills against bespoke contract management and have a background in commercial law. Have strong business acumen.
