Person Profile/Experience: A skilled Technician and ideally time served, you may have previous experience of undertaking maintenance, service and repair work on Diesel/Electric Locomotives but failing that we are keen to speak with Technicians from any of the following areas: HGV's/PSV's/Heavy Mobile Plant. Military Vehicles/Systems. Automotive. Generators and Aircraft Starter Systems You'll have the ability to make sound engineering decisions and will have good communication skills, written and oral and happy to work a mixed hours shift pattern. You may have a current PTS, but this is not essential as successful candidates will undertake a local PTS course should it be required. Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force Maintain, service, fault find and repair Locomotives in accordance with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards You will be physically fit and healthy, you will be required to undertake a NWR related medical and drugs & alcohol test which must be passed before any offer can be made, have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work outdoors where required. Exterior Lighting Engineer Contract: Until December 2024 Location: Crewe (3 days per week in the office) Daily rate: £280 Hours: Monday - Friday 37 hours a week We are seeking a Lighting Electronics Developer / System Integration Engineer to join Electrical. Reporting to the Functional Manager - Lighting, the role is responsible for delivering series and prototype Automotive Lighting electronics / software solutions for our clients projects, to our quality standards, on time and within budget. Directly working with and for with the Lighting Function Owners. Working closely with Group Counterparts to develop Lighting functions, systems and architecture to enable best in class Exterior lighting solutions. About the Function: The position is working within the Exterior and Interior Lighting Team, the team goal and tasks are to create and develop for the future world class lighting systems and products. The team works cross functionally across the whole business, including Production, Project, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, EK, Electrical Engineering, Group. About You: The successful colleague will be in an engineering role looking to utilise their skills in a different capacity. You will need previous experience in automotive lighting electronics / system integration, will be able to work autonomously and be flexible for extensive travel for Group partner projects. You will ideally have a degree in automotive electronics, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent experience. You will ideally have experience of vehicle communications/architecture network (e.g. CAN, LIN, Flexray) and diagnostic tools (e.g. IDEX, ODIS) or very similar technologies. German language skills would be advantageous You will demonstrate: Previous experience as an Automotive Lighting Electronics / System Integration engineering experience Good communication skills to be used across R and D and Group partners Ability to work independently with autonomy Flexibility to travel extensively to Germany Full driving license is essential Key duties include: Delivery includes definition & Development of Electrical system SW & functional requirements based on vehicle specifications, developing the interfaces to other electrical systems to support the integration of the Lighting systems for all of our clients vehicles. Development with Group counterparts, necessary input and output information of light software components to develop customer functions, develop and understand behavior of standard light functions (in the VW group), e.g. low beam, high beam, turn indicator, brake light. Managing software releases in accordance with calibration maturity and build timing. Coordinate and execute validation testing utilising both vehicles and Hardware rigs. Support key business customers such as Production Planning, Certification and Aftersales; assist with problem solving and resolving vehicle concerns, management of suppliers, liaison with VW Group colleagues Responsible for carrying out feasibility and concept study activities within the team.
