The Silver Line Helpline is recruiting for Helpline Officers to join their fantastic team providing a vital service to older people across the UK. The Silver Line Helpline is a free, confidential telephone service offering friendship, conversation and support to older people, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Representing the values of The Silver Line Helpline and Age UK, you will be the first point of contact for incoming calls from older people in need of support or just a friendly chat. Given the nature of the helpline each day will be varied and you will need to be adaptable to lots of unique situations. This exciting opportunity is perfect for a friendly individual with effective communication skills and the ability to maintain high standards with an emphasis on empathy, patience and understanding. Working as part of this supportive team, you will adhere to all safeguarding procedures in order to keep callers safe from potential abuse or neglect. We have 4 part-time vacancies working 25 hours per week. These exciting positions offer hybrid working between home and our Blackpool office, surrounded by excellent amenities. Candidates must be willing to travel to the Blackpool office a minimum of once a week. Please note that this post does require weekend and bank holiday working on a shift pattern basis. Experience of working and providing support to older people and / or previous experience of providing telephone support within a helpline environment. SER are currently working alongside a Mental Health Service based in the Chelmsford, Essex area who are currently seeking a Night Concierge to join their team on a permanent contract. Therapeutic optimism is at the heart of all the work carried out by this Mental Health Service, believing all clients with mental health needs can achieve and make positive changes to their lives as they move along their pathway of recovery. Position: Night Concierge (Mental Health) Location: Chelmsford, Essex Contract: Permanent - 40.25 hrs per week, across a 7-day rota, as agreed by management. Shifts: 3 shifts one week, 4 shifts the next Salary: £25,183.62pa About this role: The Night Concierge has responsibility and will provide visiting support as well as first contact, safeguarding, and support to the clients at night in the West Essex services. The post-holder will be responsible for dealing with emergencies, carrying out Health and Safety checks, and communicating any concerns or events to the out of hours On Call Manager. At times this will be a lone working position and at other times there will be support from other night staff. To provide visiting overnight waking cover at various schemes across Essex services and be the first point of contact for clients during the night To maintain the safety and security of clients and to provide visiting service throughout the night shift. Undertake regular Health and Safety checks, monitoring the CCTV system and addressing challenging behaviour effectively To maintain a full and accurate log of events, report on incidents, record contact with clients and report any maintenance issues To take immediate appropriate action in the event of an emergency To make contact with emergency services and the on-call manager. To ensure a safe and healthy environment for clients in line with role and responsibilities. Being proactive in reviewing and evaluating own performance and identifying and acting upon areas for improvement and development. Undertaking, as required, any other duties compatible with the level and nature of the post and/or reasonably required by more senior members of staff. Attend and participate in team meetings and other meetings where applicable. Engage with clients within established boundaries in order to build rapport. Provide practical support to clients throughout the night shift. Be responsive to the presentation of clients and take reasonable precautions to manage risk, including deescalating and seeking appropriate assistance when necessary from emergency services.
