We are a small residential home in Pegswood, Morpeth supporting 7 people with learning disabilities and complex health needs. Our ages range from 34 to 74. Our needs are very varied and the support we need requires the staff team to be flexible and adaptable to change. We have different challenges in our lives which include visual impairment, diabetes, mental health issues and stoma care as well as learning disabilities. What is important to us? We love being out and about accessing services in our local community as well as holidays in this country and abroad. We love going out for meals and visiting coffee shops. Swimming, walking, cinema trips and shopping are important to us. We have a mini bus to get out and about on so being a driver is important to us. We are all have very different personalities and need staff who can adapt to match all of our personalities, we like friendly, fun loving staff who like being on the go and kept busy. Other information? We live in a detached bungalow in a quiet area of Pegswood, we have several communal areas. The location of the service is ideal as it is in a quiet village however neighbouring towns are close by which means we have access to all of the amenities we enjoy There is 5 staff on each shift and 2 overnight. The shift pattern consists of 0800-1500, 1500-2200, 0800-2200, sleep in 2200-0700 and night shift 2200-0700 however these are flexible to meet our needs We need our staff to be trained in learning disability, mental health, diabetes awareness, stoma care, MAPA and PBS With experience working in a health or social care setting, you will have an upbeat positive manner, as well as having a genuine passion for supporting people to become a part of their local and wider community. You will also have experience working with people supported who present behaviours that require intensive support planning and management to ensure their safety and quality of life at all times. In addition you will be comfortable using basic IT systems that are required within the role - training can be offered to support this area. You will also hold a professional qualification in Health and Social Care, i.e. Nurse, Social Worker, SVQ Level 3 plus supervisory units (Scotland) / Care Management Level 3 (England).
