Caf Manager Job Description We are looking for an enthusiastic hands-on Caf manager to motivate the staff team and develop the culture of the caf. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the staff and the day-to-day running of the caf. They will maintain the established caf environment while supporting the general ethos of the caf. Main responsibilities Staffing, training and monitoring General management of paid staff and volunteers. Assist with menu creation and monitor food and plating standards Staff rotas. Assist with advertising and recruiting new staff. Provide adequate "induction" and "hands on training" to new workers to ensure a high quality of service, especially in relation to health, safety and hygiene matters as well as an outline of the ethos and culture of the cafe. Develop and mentor staff through positive and caring working relationships to enable them to be the best that they can be Stock Control, Ordering and Financial Monitoring Oversee stock rotation and control, including monitoring wastage and staff consumption. Oversee ordering of stock, ensuring good quality and variety of produce at all times as well as good value and the best price. Maintenance of servery/kitchen equipment, organising repairs where necessary. Assist with maintaining the pricing structure of all drinks, snacks and meals etc to cover costs, vat and profit margins. Cash up the till at the end of each day, bringing any significant differences to the attention of the Management Team. Meet with Management Team Weekly to review budgets and discuss things generally Front of House Service Strive to provide customers with a level of service that consistently exceeds their expectations. Cultivating positive relationships with staff and customers Advise and assist in the development of the menu for the client Meet weekly with Conference Catering Supervisor to plan events and to discuss generally how things are working. Supervision and Management Team Take responsibility for the day to day management and efficient operation of the caf including supervision of all staff. Ensure "Safer Food Better Business" procedures are being met. Provide equipment training such as use of the cappuccino machine etc. Attend regular Management Team meetings and take an active role in the decision making process on the overall management of the caf, as part of and in consensus with the Management Team. Starting rate for this post is negotiable depending on experience and will be reviewed after 6 months and annually thereafter 28 days paid holiday per annum including bank holidays.
