Do you hold a C1 licence? Do you have a good understanding of basic vehicle maintenance, operations, and inspections? Vehicle Maintenance (Multiple Vacancies) Locations - Essex (Southend & Chelmsford) Salary - £11.45 per hour Temporary ongoing role We have an incredible opportunity in various areas for Vehicle Maintenance Operatives to work for one of our clients. In this role, you will be working full time including nights and weekends. Hours are 37.5 per week; with weekends and some nights 6:00 - 8:00 and 18:00 - 22:00 Monday to Friday and weekends Temporary ongoing Responsibilities: Deliver and collect Trust Vehicles between Trust sites and/or external sites/agents Confirm with Make Ready staff that the vehicle they are due to move has the correct levels of stock and equipment assets assigned Undertake 'Vehicle Checks' on each vehicle driven to ensure it has legal tyres, functioning lights, sufficient oil and coolant, and fuel for the journey being completed, in accordance with the Trust Policy Report any defects that arise during the collection, delivery, or road test to Make Ready staff and or workshop staff prior to the vehicle being handed over to the user of that vehicle Able to reactively plan the working day based on operational requirements and changes to pre-planned work Responsible for the safe keeping of any fuel card or mobile phone issued to the individual during their period of work and for returning such items prior to the end of their duty Undertake extended road tests of vehicles as advised or required after either a Trust workshop or other workshop repair has been undertaken prior to them going back into service, reporting any concerns back to the workshops Report as soon as practical, any loss or theft of such items, immediately to their Line Manager Monitor the electronic equipment tracking system (RFID) to identify both the compliance of equipment on operational vehicles and any shortfalls of equipment/consumables Maintain contact with their Line Manager should they be required to be absent due to sickness Clean ambulances for operational duty to agreed Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) quality standards for the benefit of our patients and staff. Skills and Experience: Full UK driving licence, including C1 (maximum of 3 points dependent upon code) Must have an NVQ level 2 in an appropriate subject or relevant experience English and maths GCSEs level 4 or equivalent level of education Experience in working to tight deadlines and managing/ prioritising tasks Experience working in a customer-focused environment Previous fleet/vehicle sector experience Intermediate numeracy, literacy, and IT skills (i.e. handheld PDA) Excellent attention to detail Ability to understand routine work procedures and capable of working with instruction manuals Good understanding of basic vehicle maintenance, operations, and inspections Able to work effectively within a team environment Knowledge of ambulance service operations Able to liaise effectively with staff and managers at all levels in the Trust, and with external organisations Good problem-solving skills, well organised and efficient Able to work shifts including twilight hours, nights and weekends Comfortable in working autonomously and self-manage To find out more about the position, please apply and we will be in touch to discuss the role in more detail.
