Finance Manager - Real Estate Finance / Lending - OUR CLIENT are a well-capitalised PE backed real estate finance company specialising in the UK Living sector markets. As a quasi-start up, and as they continue to expand, they have solely instructed us to help hire a new Finance Manager to add to their existing team. The Finance Manager will ensure existing operational and reporting requirements are maintained, as well as assisting the small finance team to scale up for future growth. This hybrid role is a great opportunity for a commercially minded 'hands on' accountant with reporting and analytical skills looking to take the next step in their career. THE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES for the varied role of the Finance Manager will include: Business Partnering Working with internal and external stakeholders to understand their financial reporting, data reporting and analysis needs. Financial reporting Financial performance tracking and reporting through development of FP&A capability. Providing key support to the FC for the internal management of financial reporting for the business. Responsible for producing the annual financial statements and accounts, ensuring a clean audit report and that the accounts follow the best financial practice. Supporting the FC in the quarterly reporting (Valuation, Cash reconciliations, P&L), to Fund Accounting Team (LA-based). Preparing weekly cash forecasts and reporting actuals against those forecasts. Producing consolidated Monthly Management Accounts with the commentary. Maintaining weekly, low volume, AP and AR, cash and bank recs. Assisting with bank covenant reporting. Financial Control Providing support the FC in the development of effective financial control. Developing and implementing robust finance systems, ensuring these are fit for purpose as the business grows. Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts and the on-going monitoring of these. Reconciling reports and accounts to Loan Management Systems on Excel. Cash Management Preparing funding and loan payment requests for Irish and Luxembourg entities. Preparing weekly cash forecasts and reporting actuals against those forecasts. FP&A / cashflow modelling. Projects Developing and delivering monthly business outlooks and dashboard reports. Developing new rolling financial forecasts with scenario analysis. Business partnering with the different departments to establish meaningful KPIs. Ongoing improvement and maintenance of end to end financial processes and development of systems. THE PERSON and SKILL REQUIREMENTS for the Finance Manager: Recently Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) - preferably with experience in Real Estate Lending or development sector (and/or investment) or experience in the operation of development loans. QBE candidates will be considered with exceptional sector experience. Advanced Excel skills (Data manipulation, reports, graphs / charts and business cases). Strong systems experience. Strong presentation skills. Strong planning and project management skills. Desire to learn and grow within and beyond the role. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Key Elements and Responsibilities of the Finance Manager: Preparation and review of period end GL account reconciliations and closure. Accounting and reporting for the two UK subsidiaries. Preparation, review, and processing of Month Quarter and Year journals, accruals, and other adjustments as required. Monthly payroll accounting including the posting of journal entries and payroll reconciliation. Assisting with the completion of local annual audits and statutory reporting for UK entities using the support of external consultants where applicable. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations. Inventory accounting and reporting. Cashflow management - monitoring and forecasting cash flow, cashflow reporting, ensuring that use of cash is optimised. This includes the management of multiple currencies. Assisting the group in analysing monthly results where required. Taxation reporting and filing with the help of an external firm. Compliance reporting and filings. Assisting with submission of VAT reports for European VAT registrations and related reports. Assisting where required in the design, implementation and maintenance of financial SOP's. Assisting with the periodic external audits and reviews and liaising with external auditors. Assisting with the preparation of data and reports as and when required by the business. Provide local management reports, as required. Liaison with IT suppliers and maintenance of Cloud computing Required knowledge of the Finance Manager: Strong relevant financial experience including general ledger accounting and reporting. Experience in processing payroll through Sage software and related reporting. Experience with VAT, other taxes, and UK compliance. Experience with accounting systems use e.g. Dynamics NAV/Netsuite or similar accounting systems. Strong Excel experience essential with the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of lookup functions, pivot tables and similar functions/ reports with the ability to handle high volume data.
