Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA) is one of the UK's leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers. The unique feature about IFA is the combination of open and closed-die forging while also undertaking the whole production process from raw material to the finished product in one location. Operating from a 680 000ft2 facility in Sheffield, we manufacture high-integrity, open-die and closed-die forged components in nickel alloy, titanium, stainless steel and carbon alloys for customers and tier-one suppliers within the aerospace, nuclear, power generation, marine as well as oil and gas sector. We're now looking for a Process Engineer to work with production, quality, environmental and health and safety systems in open die forgings units. As our Process Engineer, you'll monitor the day-to-day activities of production units, particularly regarding route card instructions and customer requirements, and liaise with customers on the forge shop floor to ensure we meet their expectations. You'll record and monitor Aerospace/Nuclear forging production covering metal soak times and temperatures and be responsible for daily production checks of forging furnaces, monitoring furnace survey schedule and liaising with IFA Instruments department on furnace issues. We're looking for a strong team player who has an excellent understanding of metallurgy and material processing. With a pro-active and practical approach, you will be an excellent communicator who understands mechanical testing and national, international and customer specifications. You'll have an interest and capability to train into a forge/heat treatment management role and ideally, but not essentially, be trained on a FLT and OH Crane. We offer you: Competitive pay. Joining us as a GFM Operative, you'll work on a rotational basis, opening furnace doors and tracking the work through the department. You'll use a forklift truck to take the bars from the furnace and place them onto the machine. You'll also be involved in bar cutting, off-loading, inspecting, and marking up bars, as well as taking bars to the stockyard. Ideally we'd like our GFM Operative to have experience of working with hot metal and be trained / experienced on a FLT and OH Crane. Someone with confined space training is highly desirable, but this is by no means essential. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 13:00 (35 hours per week). We offer you: Competitive pay.
