My client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Production Manager to join their site on the outskirts of Edinburgh. You will be working with a successful manufacturer, that have a culture on site that is results-driven with a strong focus on continuous improvement. With an increase in production on site, it has become inevitable that they are now looking for another Production Manager to support them. Responsibilities : Manage and evaluate machine and labour resources to ensure continuous productivity and minimal downtime Planning and organising production schedules Distribute manpower effectively Ensure production is cost effective, ran as efficiently as possible and minimise overtime spend Escalate production issues or problems to the Operations Manager as required. Ensure that Team Leaders, Supervisors and Section Leaders are fulfilling the Roles and Responsibilities expected of them Overseeing the production process, ensuring adherence to required process and quality controls Reviewing departments performance against Action Plans and KPI's Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees Ensure the shop floor is kept up to date on factory performance and news relevant to the business Experience required: 5 years minimum experience in a manufacturing management role Sound knowledge, understanding and examples of implementation of lean manufacturing principles and methods Implement a culture of continuous improvement, always seeking out opportunities to do things better Excellent project management skills The ability to lead, motivate and influence large multi-functional teams Successful track record of training employees in productivity and safety Successful implementation of an effective succession planning program

What does your typical day look like? Ensure compliance of Food Safety Standards Adhere to basic PPE and Plant Safety Standards Participate in any Safety, Health and Environment related courses as required Responsible for own and safety of others Comply with all safety regulations and instruction Participate in training and development of self and team Maintenance of hygiene and clean as you go' procedures Working together as part of a team to ensure we make great biscuits To actively support a safety culture within Dispatch warehouse teams , including safe use of FLT /PPT Truck equipment To collect palletised stock from production area & shrink wrap prior to loading To load vehicles with finished goods pallets out of a Dispatch warehouse ,using scan systems & agreed vehicle planning To support delivery of accurate documentation & labelling control of all finished goods stock in Dispatch warehouse To communicate positively with all colleagues during each shift & handover period What are the key ingredients needed for the role? And don't forget... work hard but play harder! What does your typical day look like? ROLE MIXING ROOM OPERATOR The initial stage of the biscuit production which is pivotal. An environment which can be very physical very team orientated and clear communication. This role requires common sense, ability to work on your own initiative and follow processes. Starting with rota sheet which tells allocates you to a particular line/plant. Then checking the recipe sheet and ensure that the mixing machine is appropriately aligned to the settings ie weight amount of individual mixes. 3 component parts to this environment; Mixer working from a menu/recipe sheet to ensure that the mixer is appropriately set. This machine determines the order and amount of the ingredients. Doing quality control checks to determine the consistency colour etc of the mix. Recipes will also have "Add Ons" These are chemical ingredients which are added manually by the mixer ie soda salt etc. The chemical mixture is prepared separately by the Chemical Maker and are brought over to the Mixer. Chemical Mixer working with a variety of chemical ingredients following instructions making this mix and bringing it to the mixer. Manual role following guidelines and using shovels to insert mix and using weighing machine to quantify correct receipt portions. Servicer Gets the bulk ingredients from the warehouse to the mixing and storage facility. Requires use of FL (although some one can do this for you) using pallet trucks. Very physical, checking stock requirements. What are the key ingredients needed for the role? Applicants must be on or over the age of 18 Ability to evidence full right to work within the UK (student applicants must, be able to demonstrate this, as paid induction requires full 40 hours induction training) Numerate, literate (written and oral communication) and the ability to work in a fast-paced people focused, team and or individual environments. Understand and be comfortable working within a food manufacturing environment where hygiene principles are exceptionally important. Referring to the pallet specification, build sound pallets of finished product enabling safe transport to the Warehouse for pallet wrapping. Complete all relevant paperwork and record details of all finished product generated by the shift. Open and repackage rejected packed product. Ensure the good housekeeping of the packing floor area. Experience in pallet building and being PC literate is desirable.
