Reed Tutors, are currently recruiting for several SEMH/SEN Home Tutors. The role itself will be working with children who live in Gloucester/Cheltenham, who access education outside of normal' schooling. This could be children who are too anxious to attend mainstream school, or display some challenging behaviour, or have been excluded, or have medical difficulties, or are in between settings (so have been pulled from mainstream and are awaiting an SEN school placement). It can also include working with looked after children in care homes. The children are often Key Stage 3-4 but we do get some Primary children referrals too and each case is unique, of which you will be given full background information/EHCP on the child. The children are taught in their home. Usual allocation of education hours are split between Monday and Friday, usually anywhere between 10-15 hours per week, most of them are 15 hour packages per week. For the majority of the time, the work delivered is Maths and English, but creativity and innovativeness will be requited when delivering these lessons due to the different types of learners that these children are. Its also super important to engage them with their interests, to get the most out of them. You will need to be an excellent communicator as you may be asked to correspond with Gloucester County Council as well as myself and the parents/guardians of the child, and sometimes external agencies like care homes/ police etc. You will also be trustworthy and empathetic the child needs to know you will not give up on them, and you will be there for them to help and support them through their education. We will have lots of children requiring tuition in the coming months and so you could do just work with 1-2 pupil if you are looking for part time work, or you could do 2-3 children if you are looking for full time work. The pay is £25-£35 per hour, this is based on whether the programme is mainly tuition or mentoring based. We currently have the following referrals to fill: Year 12 GL51 Tuition and Mentoring 15 hours per week Year 10 (complex needs working at reception level) GL1- Tuition 10 hours per week Year 10 GL2 Tuition & Mentoring 15 hours per week Year 5 GL52 Tuition & Mentoring 15 hours per week Requirements: Teaching Degree or FE Qualifications; PGCE; (either primary or secondary) Subject to excellent references.
