We are looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Business Partner to support our client's Development HS&W Lead in maintaining high health, safety, and wellbeing standards across all development schemes. The role involves working closely with the Development functions to identify and eliminate H&S risks from the pre-construction phases through to handover and use and educating design teams on design risk principles.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the Development HS&W Lead to ensure high HS&W standards are maintained.
  • Assist in identifying and eliminating H&S risks in pre-construction phases.
  • Educate and support design teams in understanding design risk principles.
  • Evaluate and challenge poor H&S practices of Principal Contractors and Designers.
  • Review and report on the quality of risk assessments and compliance to the HS&W Training matrix.
  • Conduct regular site inspections with the Delivery Teams and report findings and recommended actions.
  • Engage with Development contractors to improve HS&W practices and performance.
  • Support the Delivery team to ensure prompt closure of raised actions.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation and industry guidance to advise Development Management.
  • Contribute to the development of specific HS&W policies for compliance and best practice.
  • Embed a ‘Safety First' culture through training and coaching.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to ensure lessons are learnt and shared.
  • Deliver required H&S training to the Development business.
  • Research and implement best HS&W practices on Development schemes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Construction certificate or significant construction and design experience.
  • Practical experience with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Experience working on-site with Principal Contractors.
  • Skilled in H&S inspections and audits.
  • Ability to conduct robust accident and incident investigations.
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organised, confident team player with good time management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experience in H&S training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently.

Desirable:

  • Member of The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • Completed Building Safety Management training course.
