Job Title: Band 7 Dietician
Location: Southampton
Working Pattern: Part-time:22.5 hours/week.
Working days: 3 days across Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Band 7 Dietician to join the team at a low secure inpatient setting for young people. You will play a key role in supporting young individuals with complex needs, particularly those experiencing food and fluid refusal. This role may involve providing Naso-gastric tube feeding, as well as offering dietary guidance for young people on medications that may affect their appetite and contribute to weight gain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dietetic support to young people in a low secure inpatient setting
- Manage cases involving food refusal, fluid refusal, and disordered eating
- Support patients requiring Naso-gastric tube feeding
- Work with young individuals who may be on medication that increases appetite, offering strategies to prevent excessive weight gain
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care for young people with complex needs
Patient Caseload:
- Awareness of the young people's caseloads is essential, particularly their tendency toward disordered eating, which can sometimes be a form of self-harm. This is important for contextual understanding and holistic care, although it is not directly related to the dietetic role.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a dietician, particularly in a setting involving young people
- Experience in managing cases involving food refusal, Naso-gastric tube feeding, and medication-induced weight gain
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team
