About Us: Haringey Council is dedicated to providing outstanding services to children and young adults in our care. Our fostering service is committed to ensuring all children have positive experiences while living away from their birth families. We handle the recruitment, assessment, training, and support of foster carers, including those placed with 'Connected Persons.'

The Role: We are looking for a dedicated Family Link Social Worker to join our Disabled Children's Service. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting, assessing, supporting, and training Family Link carers, who provide crucial short break services for disabled children. This involves ensuring compliance with fostering regulations and providing both day and overnight support to families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential Family Link carers through comprehensive checks and in-depth visits to assess suitability and motivation.
  • Support & Training: Provide ongoing support and training to Family Link carers, ensuring they meet fostering regulations and are well-prepared to offer high-quality care.
  • Short Break Services: Manage the provision of short break services, linking disabled children with carers for regular respite care.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Haringey's Fostering Service and other community partners to ensure a seamless support system for carers and children.
  • Safeguarding: Conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people, adhering to safeguarding principles.
  • Information Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on carers and ensure information systems are effectively used.

About You: We seek a qualified social worker with a strong understanding of The Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and relevant legislation for children with disabilities. You should have excellent communication skills, a commitment to safeguarding, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in training and developing carers and managing information systems is essential.

Essential Qualities:

  • Familiarity with fostering regulations and legal frameworks for children with disabilities.
  • Ability to promote self-directed support for carers and families.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Expertise in conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding.
  • Experience in training and development of carers.
  • Effective information management skills.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of disabled children and their families.
