Service Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist in the development and maintenance of effective management which will provide for the customers individual needs.

To assist in the provision of an appropriate and integrated package of support and social care in accordance with agreed support plans and risk assessments.

To ensure access opportunities to maintain customers independence whilst encouraging wellbeing and integration into the local community.

To work with the Area Manager to deliver a service that has a clear referral and entrance criteria.

To contribute to the preparation of reports and management information.

To support the Area Manager to maintain and monitor documentation and record keeping required by Aspire, Supporting People, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other regulatory bodies.

To undertake people related tasks in relation to workforce planning, performance and conduct, health and wellbeing and, in compliance with Aspire procedures.

To promote wellbeing and safeguard adults from abuse and ensure all safeguarding concerns are reported to line management.

To take an active role in the recruitment and retention of the workforce.

To act on and report all concerns in relation to customers and service delivery.

To promote and develop partnership working within the community and with other stakeholders.

To assist in the implementation of effective rota management to meet the needs of customers within agreed budgets.

To undertake and record regular, supervision and appraisals.

To contribute towards an annual training plan.

To involve customers in all decision making and service development and promote the role of advocacy.

To undertake other duties appropriate to this post.

To comply with the requirements of all Aspire policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS

Ability to assist in the management of a geographically defined area.

Ability to prepare, communicate and present complex and contentious reports and management information to a range of stakeholders including non-specialists.

Ability to demonstrate effective management and team building skills.

Ability to effectively plan, organise and delegate own work and that of others in a geographically defined area.

Ability to seek, interpret and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

Ability to identify problems and seek appropriate solutions.

Ability to make decisions using all available information, having regard for the consequences.

Ability to demonstrate use of own initiative.

Ability to deal with any sensitive issues.

Ability to prepare reports in a logical, organised way, and present in an appropriate format.

Ability to implement an effective rota system.

Ability to motivate and develop staff and demonstrate competence whilst undertaking formal supervision and appraisal.

KNOWLEDGE

Of current, trends, policies, legislation and regulatory bodies in relation to vulnerable adults with in a social care setting.

Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the needs and wishes of customers as appropriate.

Demonstrate an awareness of needs and safeguarding issues associated with vulnerable adults.

Demonstrate an understanding of diversity issues within local communities.

Employees working with people who have a learning disability will also need to hold or to complete the Induction in Supporting People with a Learning Disability within 12 weeks of commencement in the post.

Employees working with people that have a learning disability must hold a QCF in Health and Social Care or its predecessors at Level 3 or if you do not hold a relevant QCF you must be willing to undertake the QCF Level 3 within six months of commencement in this post.

Of providing support for people who live independently in the community.
