**Job Title:
Teaching Assistants for Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provisions
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Job Type: Full-time, Long-term, Temp to perm
Salary: £85.00 - £95.00 per day.
As a Teaching Assistant within an alternative provision, you will play a critical role in helping students with behavioural challenges develop the skills they need to succeed academically and behaviourally. You will work closely with students in Alternative Provisions and Pupil Referral Units, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive and supportive relationships with students.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to help students improve their behaviour and self-regulation.
- Assist teachers and staff in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized behaviour support plans.
- Document and track student progress.
- Attend training sessions and professional development to enhance your skills.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young people with behavioural or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Have an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply.
