Storesperson for Engineering Warehouse

Our stores-person is responsible for the complete management of my clients stores inclusive of all stock, tools and plant. They are able to carry out minor repairs to our own fleet of vehicles to ensure the smooth running of the fleet. Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Receiving deliveries - ensure correct paperwork has been submitted, goods received are in good quality and the system is updated to acknowledge receipt.
  • Work with the Transport Manager on the servicing of owned vehicles and to carry out minor repairs to our fleet of vehicles, including changing tyres, replacing brake pads and discs, replacing bulbs and mirrors. Will require some form of qualification to change brake pads & discs.
  • To carry out vehicle health checks and ensuring fluids are topped up,
  • To ensure the stores facilities, warehouse and yard is kept clean, tidy and organised.
  • Ensure stores are kept stocked with necessary tools, equipment, and uniform
  • Liaise with Purchasing Manager the ordering of stock/tool and plant replenishment
  • Manage the signing in and out system via our jobs portal (full training will be given) to enable you to manage all stock; tools/plant/equipment that comes in and out of the yard. No materials, tools or plant is to be removed from stores without your prior knowledge and agreement and this must be updated on the system at the time of dispatch and added back into stock once it is returned
  • Work with the Transport Manager to ensure materials or tools for the fleet are kept well-stocked and signed out only by yourself or with the Transport Mangers approval.
  • Work with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure engineers have the correct PPE, signed out by yourself or with the Health and Safety Manager's approval.
  • Perform biannual stock-takes and maintain the asset register (disposal of tools/acquisition of tools) with the help of the H&S Manager and Purchasing Manager
  • Deal with hiring and off-hiring equipment
  • Issue uniform and maintain the workwear spreadsheet
  • Issue/box up engineers' requests via email for consumables (gloves/wipes/blue roll etc) for collecting from the stores
  • PC literate (word, email and excel are key)
  • Able to operate a forklift (this would be advantageous but not essential as training can be provided)
  • Qualified to carry out minor mechanical work
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Proactive, organised and punctual
  • Confidently able to work within a team with a flexible and dynamic approach to all tasks
  • Excellent communicator
