Position Overview:
As a Management Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial planning and analysis functions of our academic trust. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for preparing accurate financial forecasts, monitoring budget performance, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making across the organisation. This is a dynamic role that offers exposure to a wide range of financial activities within the academic sector.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed financial forecasts and budgets for the academic trust, taking into account various factors such as enrolment trends, funding sources, and operational expenses.
- Monitor budget performance and variance analysis, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations to management.
- Collaborate with budget holders and department heads to develop annual budgets and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making on resource allocation, investment opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports and presentations for senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- ACCA/CIMA Finalist/Newly Qualified Accountant
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant
- Strong understanding of financial forecasting techniques, budgeting processes, and management accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
