I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading global service PLC based in Birmingham that has an excellent team ethos.

My client is looking for a driven graduate to come into a Accounts Assistant role. You will come into a hybrid working role where you will have the opportunity to work from home for part of the working week but still have constant support and development from management whenever required.

You will initially come into the Transactions team where you will provide accurate and timely processing of payments and cash allocations with respect to the Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions, enabling the team to maintain proper accounting records.

Key Areas of the Role include:-

  • Receive, verify and process supplier invoices.
  • Ensure purchase orders match corresponding invoices and have been correctly raised.
  • Processing automated payments and customer collections on company finance system.
  • Manual payments for one-time vendors/foreign suppliers.
  • Supplier reconciliations to ensure any missing invoices and differences are captured.
  • Reporting daily cash inflows to the Management Team.
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations and reporting cash balances.
  • Issuing the company cash flow forecast.
  • Drive forward efficiency by investigating and implementing where applicable new methodology of cash allocation.
  • Obtain and maintain remittances from customers and allocation of customer receipts.
  • Review and resolve unapplied cash, incorporating meaningful comments where there are issues.
  • Monitoring and allocation of cheques.
  • Management of cheque payments made, including writing and cancelling cheques.
  • Monthly balance sheet support pack with schedules and reconciliation's as well as month end closing procedures.
  • Other duties around compliance and control

Key Attributes required:-

My client is looking for an ambitious graduate, ideally with a finance or business focused degree, looking to develop a successful career in Accounts and Finance and study towards an accounting qualification. You may have some post graduation office experience. You will be analytical, able to use your initiative and a good team player. You will need to be resilient and tenacious to be able to meet the demands of the business.

Excellent communication skills are a must, along with strong IT skills and proven analytical skills. This is a great opportunity to develop into an all round accountant as this highly successful company progress their graduates through all areas of their finance team as they learn.
