Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in ASD support at the secondary level, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the academic, social, and emotional development of students with ASD. Your primary responsibility will be to provide individualized support, create a conducive learning environment, and collaborate with our dedicated staff to ensure that every student with ASD has an inclusive and fulfilling educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students with ASD, providing academic and behavioral support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with ASD.
- Foster positive social interactions and communication skills among students with ASD.
- Utilize visual aids, sensory supports, and other strategies to enhance learning and understanding.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to support.
- Support students during transitions and offer emotional support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your expertise in ASD support.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Specialized training or experience in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and positive behavior support.
- A commitment to promoting an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated educational team.
