The Senior Performance Manager (SPM) works with the Regional Performance Manager to prioritise projects and initiatives that funnel into the Southern Operations Performance Team and works to implement initiatives to improve the efficiency of Southern Operations.

Methodology & Processes:

  • Managing multiple projects within the Performance Team to ensure alignment with Southern Operations' strategic objectives.
  • Developing and monitoring benefit realisation plans.
  • Ensuring projects adhere to SGN's delivery methodology, processes, and quality standards.
  • Establishing governance frameworks and workstream structures to support business objectives.

Financial Control:

  • Preparing and managing project proposals and investment papers, securing necessary budgets.
  • Overseeing financial management across all projects and supporting budget and forecasting activities.
  • Providing detailed cost estimates and financial analysis.

Risk & Issue Management:

  • Monitoring and resolving issues, conflicts, and critical deliverables.
  • Reviewing escalated risks and dependencies with consideration for their impact on other areas.

Planning & Resources:

  • Tracking and communicating progress against plans, ensuring business requirements are met.
  • Adapting to shifting priorities and optimising resource utilisation.
  • Collaborating with HR on retention and recruitment strategies for Scotland Operations.

Line Management:

  • Managing and coaching team members, setting objectives, and monitoring performance through regular reviews.

What you'll need

  • Experience of project delivery and change experience.
  • Experience of contract development and management
  • Proactive and dogmatic in identifying and escalating areas of under-performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Proven experience of portfolio delivery including providing portfolio assurance and governance.
  • Proven experience of translating business analysis, requirements definition and business case production into practical implementation.
  • Successfully leading projects and programmes to deliver on-time, on-schedule and within budget.
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and programme team sizes including mentoring and line management responsibility of permanent staff.
  • Strong experience presenting to executive sponsors and demonstrated communication skills.
