About the role:

The People and Culture Director will lead the entire employee life cycle, championing engagement and ensuring our client's Employer brand remains strong. You will explore innovative initiatives to position our client as one of the best places to work fostering a culture that attracts and retains top talent.

As the People and Culture Director, you will lead and support the people team to drive success while serving as the HR subject matter expert on all people-related matters, Foundation, and the joint venture. You will collaborate with and advise senior stakeholders, acting as a trusted partner to enhance our workplace culture and align people strategies with business goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the Director of People and Culture include:

  • Leading, developing and inspiring the People team which includes HR, People Operations, EDI and Safeguarding.
  • Being responsible for a candidate-led talent attraction process ensuring that our client are positively represented within the sector and wider talent attraction marketplace.
  • Striving to achieve a high performing, diverse and inclusive workforce at all levels and across departments.
  • Overseeing a people-centric HR Operations and Payroll process, ensuring it is efficient and focused on delivering exceptional employee experiences.
  • Implementing best practices to streamline operations and enhance service delivery, ultimately supporting our commitment to a positive workplace culture.
  • Developing and delivering a highly effective training and development strategy which focusses on employee skills, knowledge, and personal & professional development.
  • Providing expertise and guidance on key activities, such as organisational redesign, reward and benefits, and resourcing planning.
  • Taking the lead on managing the HR budget and cost strategies, overseeing third-party supplier contracts for HR systems and services.
  • Benchmarking our client's organisation against industry leaders to establish our client as a top workplace renowned for high engagement and inclusivity.
  • Developing and implementing a reward strategy which is fair, equitable, strategically aligned, and that enables our client to attract and retain high performing and diverse talent.

About you:

  • Degree level of qualification or above or equivalent experience.
  • An extensive HR generalist background, with up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and application of this in practice.
  • Values sports and sporting environments.
  • Experience in retail, hospitality, sport, or similar (desirable)
  • Commercially focused and able to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and multi-faceted organisation.
  • Pragmatic and proactive with a solution orientated attitude.
  • An understanding of and commitment to inclusion and diversity.
  • Experience of leading and implementing extensive organisational and culture change and driving business process improvements.
  • Effective relationship management skills, with demonstrable ability to engage and influence at all levels, building rapport and credibility, gaining trust and support to produce positive outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, showing the capacity to convey, exchange and present information in a clear, concise and accurate manner to optimise the engagement of the target audience.
  • High integrity with a commitment to a set of values and principles, or ‘doing the right thing', and displaying high levels of personal accountability in your conduct and behaviour at all times.
  • A pragmatic and agile working style, with an ability to work through ambiguity and adapt to a changing environment.
  • A coaching and mentoring style, combined with demonstrable experience of managing the performance of individuals and teams.
