Assistant Accountant
- Job Type: Full-time, 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

- Salary: £28,000-31,000 per annum
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support our Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly management accounts and oversee various financial operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in finance and accounting, who is eager to participate in the wider business activities and contribute to the efficiency of the head office finance team.
Day to day of the role:
- Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Oversee the weekly cash position reporting.
- Conduct weekly site safe checks and report any discrepancies to general managers.
- Review and sign off daily sales journals promptly.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring monthly reporting and resolution of reconciling items.
- Review monthly supplier payment runs for accuracy and adherence to supplier terms before approval.
- Compile and reconcile the fixed asset register and capex schedule monthly.
- Manage user access and ensure the implementation of online ticketing, promotions, and price changes via the EPOS system.
- Seek efficient methods of reporting and gathering information from sites.
- Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process, meeting all deadlines.
- Lead by example with a hands-on approach, continually seeking to develop your own skills.
- Foster a culture of sharing best practices throughout the organisation.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by the company or the Head of Finance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in finance and accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of financial operations and management accounts.
- Ability to conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
- Proficiency in using EPOS systems and financial software.
